*A bit about yourself<\/strong><\/p>\n

When did you first realize you were passionate about art & crafts?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

As a young girl it became apparent to my family that I had the innate aptitude for drawing so my grandmother mentored that ability and enrolled me in numerous classes at the Edmonton Art Gallery where I was eventually encouraged to attend high school at the newly developed Victoria School of Performing and Visual Arts. There I was able to hone my talents by receiving formal training in fine art, set design and construction.\u00a0 Over the years with practice and my own drive to better my abilities, I\u2019ve managed to become comfortable in painting watercolours, however it\u2019s a constant learning experience.<\/p>\n

Where do you draw your inspiration from?\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019m heavily inspired by Nature and of course the wildlife that inhabit it.\u00a0 <\/span>I relocated to the Okanagan Valley in 2009 as I felt a pull towards the mountains and the open water. The scenery here is a constant wonder so I typically use bold, bright colours as I enjoy a more vibrant type of artwork.<\/p>\n

*A bit about your brand*<\/strong><\/p>\n

What have been the biggest challenges you\u2019ve had to face as an emerging designer?<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n

My biggest struggle as an artist, especially starting out, was to develop a consistent style so that my work was recognizable. I enjoyed so many subjects and media that I was pulled in too many directions, so I\u2019ve spent the last year focusing more on a consistent portfolio.<\/p>\n

How have you overcome them?<\/span>\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve managed to perfect my technique with watercolours and found a surface called Yupo synthetic paper that I enjoy immensely. It has a more contemporary appeal and it\u2019s quite challenging to work with so I enjoy pushing my own boundaries as an Artist.<\/p>\n

What do you think about the Now In Store catalog builder?\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I found the catalog builder to be a Godsend!\u00a0 I have so many listings on Etsy that I found it daunting to try and create something on my own.\u00a0 I\u2019ve definitely recommended it to other Etsy sellers, not only because of its sleek design, but because of the opportunities I\u2019ve gained from it.<\/p>\n

Has it helped you in growing your business?\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Since creating the Now in Store catalog, I\u2019ve received so many inquiries from it with retail boutiques and art licensers that I wish I would have tried it years ago.<\/p>\n

What are your plans for the futur<\/span>e?\u00a0<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019m constantly listing new items on Etsy so I need to add more pages and approach some retailers that I feel would be a good fit for my artwork.\u00a0 I\u2019m always on the lookout for trends and creating new pieces that I feel appeal to a wide range of customers, so I\u2019d like to start wholesaling my products and grow my art licensing business worldwide.<\/p>\n
